Exploration Of SL

Being new and trying to navigate Second Life is not an easy thing to do. I consider myself pretty technological but this other world is testing me. All the places visited, the people met, the process and change along the way was slowly learned. I don’t have much information regarding the Sims, but I gathered as much as I could and took some pretty snapshots. Here is what I know.
When I first arrived at Info Island, I saw snowmen reading and ice covered trees. Then I noticed a picture of President Obama being sworn into office. The library caught my attention and I ventured over to it. I noticed that it had information about many interesting things such as Second Life information, Literature, sports, westerns, arts and crafts, cooking and human sexuality. I met another avatar named Quantum Mechanique who is from Finland and showed me some pretty interesting things such a list of top hotspots to visit in Second Life. I then met Alley cat who was literally a large black cat with green eyes. Truthfully, I couldn’t find anything. I looked around for 3 hours and couldn’t figure out how to find the schedule of activities. The least valuable and easiest thing I could do is get snapshots with both of my new acquaintances, which I did with their permission of course.

The next place I visited was Marni. It was pretty. At first I couldn’t understand what its purpose was. All I could see was what looked like personal houses and pools. After some flying around I was able to find the interactive audiovisual sculptures. I took a snapshot of myself in the one that I thought was the most interesting and pretty. It is called Eudemonia Stellata. It is pink and looks like flower with partially open petals. In my photo, I am inside of it. When you touch each of the petals a different tone is produced. It starts to sound pretty beautiful. It was when I was playing with these little touches and listening to the harmony they produced that I realized what Marni seems like it is for. I think that it is a place for relaxation and meditation. All of the different soothing interactive audiovisual sculptures let you sculpt your own harmony and relax to it.

After Marni, I went to Chakryn Forest. When I first arrived, I saw a Bettine Tizzy’s Froggy with a tip jar. I noticed that the total amount of tips the frog had been $L: 8912. That is simply amazing. Just after I arrived I found an area in the forest that had fascinating lights in the trees. I decided to fly with them and get a pretty snapshot. I walked around for an hour and found a little pond that tried to send me on an errand to find a bottle of poison that can’t be spilled so it won’t pollute the land and crystallized water to purify the poison. While I was venturing around, I saw two individuals having personal relations. Even being computer animations, it was still kind of embarrassing to see. I found the crystallized water but for the life of me could not find the poison. I got frustrated and left.

I decided I would go ahead and visit Thursday’s Fictions. When I arrived there, I was first relieved that there was a yellow brick road to lead me to where I was supposed to go. And then a realized that the second stop pretty much had me stuck. There was a lot of meditation places and sayings on the walls but that was about it. Again, I didn’t understand. I did try to meditate. I even took a snapshot of me meditating in front of a Buddhist sculpture. I really wish I had more time to learn these things, but after spending at least 3 hours every day on the computer just trying not to walk into things I get pretty flustered. I am a very patient person, but this program is trying to break me.

When I went to Themiskyra, it reminded me of a mix of cultures ranging from medieval to Asian and Egyptian. I didn’t understand it of course. I’ve been on that course a lot lately. There were what looked like cherry blossom trees and gardens. These are what reminded me of the Asian theme. There was a building with a lot of gold dogs that acted as guardians for the Egyptians. There was also a throne, manual fans and lit torches. That led me to the Egyptian theme. And upon initial contact in Themiskyra, the buildings I was facing looked like they were straight out of “A Knights Tale”. They were almost castle looking made of old gray stones. That is my medieval theory. Other than that, there was also meditation and relaxation places.
Of all the places I went, I only saw two avatars, if you can believe that. They really didn’t know much more than me and didn’t have anything in common with me. The only thing that kept us talking was the fact that we were trying to be polite. It was pretty humorous. I did go to a lot of places that are beautiful, and got lost at most of them. It was a very interesting experience either way. I’m just glad I can laugh at myself and now believe I’m not as smart as I believed I was.

Let Me Introduce My Second Self - JenniferBuckwalter Mnemonic

I think that I am a pretty technological person. I know how to do many things and I a pretty fast learner. The only thing that I am not into is video games. I think that my problem is that I have many other things that I can do with my time and being on a computer is not one of them. I have friends and family to see and talk to and I would prefer to do that in person or manually by phone. So getting use to Second Life is hard for me. It’s taking more time than it should for me and that is making it hard to do the things I want to. I’ve tried though! My personal self in second life looks a little like me but more the way I would like to look. I love the dark crazy hair, bright eyes and perfect body. I think the eyes are close to my own but prettier. I tried to get the facial/body structure and skin tone as close as possible to my own. It is kind of hard. I’m not quite sure how to accomplish a lot of things yet like making money. I have not spent any money because I haven’t figured out how to make it. I love to wear diamond stud earrings and by some miracle I was able to find some for free along with a bracelet. The black gown I’m wearing is the most comfortable (not literally) thing I could find to wear. I’m not a revealing person so the long gown makes me feel better. I also found some black wings that I thought brought out the color of my eyes and matches well with the black dress. I would like to find an appearance that I could stick to all the time. I’ve been trying to accomplish that but it is hard to find free apparel and free time to experiment. I have not asked others how I look. I’m not a person to ask because I am usually pretty comfortable in what I am wearing or how I look. So in this case, I really don’t care what others think. I took my snapshot at the Da Vinci castle with fireworks in the background which I thought was pretty and went well with my personal taste. It’s beautiful and romantic. Some of the things a girl likes.
